Training commences at ILPD on Public Service Ethics and Law of Torts: Negligence and Malfeasance.

The Institute of Legal Practice and Development(ILPD) is conducting a one week’s training from April 18-22, 2016 on Public Service Ethics and Law of Torts specifically on negligence and malfeasance. This training brings together Legal Officers and Advisors from different Government Institutions. The training is being facilitated by Experts from The United Kingdom(UK) and will be officially closed on Friday 22nd April 2016.

The training was organized in conjunction with the Ministry of justice (MINIJUST) which has the mandate over legal advisors from Government Institutions.  MINIJUST arms Legal Officers and Advisors with all the necessary trainings so that they excellently perform their duties while avoiding any loss to the government. This training is intended to awaken the mindset of legal officers and Advisors by encouraging them to exercise due diligence in their duties while providing excellent services void of professional liability.

The focus of this training is on understanding the role of Legal Officers and Advisors, standards expected from all public servants, how Governments can be legally held to account, how the English civil law underpins professional standards, how management of risk is important, consequences of breach, criminal liabilities, and importance of good practice in procurement, amongst others.
