The Hon. Minister of Justice/Attorney General officiates the Closing of NICHE-RWA-008 Project

On this Monday 20th July 2015, The Minister of Justice/Attorney General Hon. Johnston BUSINGYE officiated the closing of Niche Project, a project that have been supporting ILPD to develop its training and administrative capacity.

Addressing the audience of this closing, The Minister recognized the contribution of NICHE Project to the development of the justice sector in general and ILPD in particular. He assured to the Dutch Government that their support is and will always be recognized.

Presenting what ILPD has got from NICHE Project, the Dean of students mentioned that the project has changed positively the academic situation of the Institute through the training of academic staff (PHD scholarships, Masters Degrees, short courses, Diploma) and the revision of the teaching system and Modules.

NICHE Project started in 2009, with the main aim of strengthening ILPD human resources capacity in order to improve the capacity and professionalism of legal practitioners in Rwanda. Apart from empowering the academic department of the Institute, NICHE has also trained administrative staff on various subjects such as the Marketing, etc. It also assisted the Institute to elaborate its strategic plan and to elaborate different manuals i.e Procurement Manual, Human Resource Management Policy and Procedures Manual and Administrative Policy and Procedures Manual.

With the same support ILPD has entered in the area of Research where by some researches were published and others are still ongoing.

Zanden van der who was the manager of this project, congratulated ILPD staff of the way they have used the opportunities of this project and confirmed that its results are tangible.

The ILPD started in 2008 with the Vision of becoming the best Legal practice institute of the region. Today more than 70% of the students enrolled for the Diploma in Legal practice international from Uganda, Kenya, Cameroun, Malawi, etc.

This Project funded by Nuffic (Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education) was implemented by MDF Training & Consultancy BV, which has formed a consortium with the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC) and Utrecht University.
