A group of 18 people of LLM and PhD students delegated by the Tanzania-Germany Center for Eastern African Legal studies (TGCL) manager Carolin Herzog paid an official visit at ILPD in Nyanza on Tuesday 20, March  2018 and was welcomed by the Acting Vice Rector for Administration and Finance. Tanzania-Germany Center for Eastern African Legal studies (TGCL) is a result of the collaboration between the University of Bayreuth in Germany and the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Since its commencement, it has resulted into the sponsorship of many students from Tanzania and from the region who have successfully completed in their respective programs. As was put by Mr. Antidius Kaitu, and the Assistant to the TGCL coordinator, the main objective of their visit was to introduce students to the legal structures of TGCL partner states in the region. This is achieved through conducting a dialogue with various officials of different legal institutions in the region. The specific objective of our visit at ILPD is knowing what the institution does and how work can help in building East African Community conscious lawyers. The Vice Rector for Administration and Finance, Shirimpumu N Erick informed the delegation about the services rendered by ILPD namely, professional training: Diploma in Legal Practice (DLP), Diploma in Legislative Drafting (DLD), Continuing Legal Education (CLEs), Specialized courses programs, as well as conducting legal research. Explaining the benefits of the visit at ILPD, Mr Antidius Kaitu, said: “We have learnt that the institute is very vibrant in training lawyers through various modes and courses that are offered at the center. Importantly is the flexibility available through the varieties of mode offered. This is a great new experience on our part as this kind of training does not exist in most of jurisdictions.” After the discussions, the team visited students pursuing post graduate diploma in legal practice in their lecture room where they were warmly welcomed.
