On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) hosted a discussion to promote Ndi Umunyarwanda values among youth in higher learning institutions and universities. The session was inaugurated by Senator Evode Uwizeyimana, a member of Unity Club Intwararumuri.

In his keynote address to ILPD students and staff, Senator Uwizeyimana emphasized that Ndi Umunyarwanda transcends citizenship, representing a deeper commitment to unity and resilience. He urged participants to embrace these principles as cornerstones of their lives. Drawing inspiration from Rwanda’s liberators, he underscored that courage and leadership are not bound by age. Reflecting on Rwanda’s history, he commended the pivotal role of young people under the leadership of His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, in the nation’s liberation.

Senator Uwizeyimana challenged the audience with a thought-provoking question:
"Examine yourself to see if the Rwanda in your heart aligns with the Rwanda you live in today. Are they the same?"

The session featured powerful testimonies of resilience from young individuals who endured hardships after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. By embracing the Ndi Umunyarwanda program, these young people have become advocates for change and unity.

Olivier Munyabuhoro, an ILPD student, shared his reflections on the discussion, stating:
"This session has taught us the importance of aligning our words and actions. The Rwanda we live in—free from discrimination—should mirror the Rwanda that resides in our hearts."

Participants expressed gratitude for the inspiring and thought-provoking dialogue, noting that it strengthened their sense of unity and commitment to resisting divisive tendencies.

The discussions are part of a broader initiative by Unity Club Intwararumuri, in collaboration with its partners, to engage youth across 32 universities and higher learning institutions. Research conducted by Unity Club in 2023 highlighted the positive impact of Ndi Umunyarwanda dialogues in healing the wounds of the youth and fostering reconciliation.

Through such sessions, Ndi Umunyarwanda continues to inspire a generation to uphold the values of unity, resilience, and integrity, ensuring a brighter future for Rwanda.
