Justice sector held a Public Relations and Communications Officers workshop at ILPD Nyanza

From the 22nd June to 25 June 2015, the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD)-Nyanza hosted all Public Relations and Communication Officers from Justice Reconciliation, Law and Order sector (JRLOS) in a communication workshop. The workshop was organised by the Ministry of Justice in collaboration with, the Institute of Legal Practice and Development as well as the Office of the Government Spokesperson with the aim of equipping the Sector Public Relations and Communication officers with necessary skills in the use of Social media so that they can train back their fellow colleagues in their respective institutions.

Further it aimed at reviving sector communication in general through review and update of the Sector communication strategy to be able to share resources while avoiding duplication and loopholes  in  sector communication activities as well as preparing its Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Lastly to draft the implementation plan for the Justice Sector Peer review Retreat resolutions relating to communication. The participants exchanged on the strategy for collective Justice Sector Social Media campaign and the highlights were presented by the trainer from the Office of the Government Spokesperson (OGS).

In his closing remarks, Mr. Aimable HAVUGIYAREMYE the acting Rector of ILPD and Chairperson of the thematic Working Group in charge of Sector Communication, personally thank the participants and requested them to practice what they have learnt  during the workshop to increase their institution’s visibility.  He further promised them possible support and advocacy to take the sector communication at the next level with of course the participants’ proactivity.

This Workshop brought together  about 20 Public Relations and Communication Officers  from the Ministry of Justice (MINIJUST), Judiciary, Rwanda Law Reform Commission (RLRC), National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA), National Unity and Reconciliation Commission (NURC), Rwanda National Police (RNP), Ministry of Internal Security (MININTER),  Office of the Ombudsman, Rwanda Correctional Services (RCS),  National Commission for the fight against Genocide(CNLG), National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR), Ministry of Defense and the Institute of Legal Practice and  Development (ILPD).
