This Thursday 18, January 2018, the Rector of ILPD officially opened a two days training of trainers organized by USAID Rwanda. The 10 participants are from ILPD, Rwanda Bar Association, High court and NPPA. The training is taking place at ILPD headquarters from 18-19 January 2018.

According to Gloria Jean Garland, Jurist Doctor-Director, Office of Democracy and Governance, USAID Rwanda, the training manual was designed to assist judges, prosecutors and lawyers with one of the most difficult tasks assigned to them: legal reasoning in judicial decision-making and judgement writing.

During this training, participants will go through three manuals i.e skills manual for prosecutors, judgement writing manual for judges in Rwanda and practical skills manual for lawyers in Rwanda.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Didas M.Kayihura, the Rector of ILPD commended USAID Rwanda for its support to ILPD and JRLOS in general. He also appreciated JRLOS institutions that released their employees to attend this training.

The workshop was facilitated by resource persons, Prof Jean Marie KAMATALI and Prof Bryan Anderson from the Ohio Northern University/PETTIT college of Law.

The Rector requested the participants to benefit from the workshop as they will have to train their counterparts.

The institute of Legal Practice has been operating since 2008 and was established to equip legal professionals with the necessary practical legal skills.
