ILPD Lecturers Participated in Advanced Training on Conflict Resolution and Anti-Money Laundering in Amsterdam, Netherland

In a continuous effort to advance their expertise and bring cutting-edge knowledge back to Rwanda, two esteemed lecturers from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD), Mr. Anastase Ngabo and Ms. Aroobe Mutoniwase, recently completed an intensive training program at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. The training focused on two key areas: "Conflict Resolution in a Globalized World" and "Introduction to Anti-Money Laundering Law & Compliance."
The training brought together lecturers and PhD students from various countries, creating a vibrant environment for learning and collaboration. Participants were exposed to diverse perspectives and gained valuable insights, which they are expected to implement in their home institutions.
Reflecting on the experience, Ms. Mutoniwase stated, "Participating in the summer program on anti-money laundering law has been immensely valuable for my role as a lecturer at ILPD. The program deepened my understanding of AML, particularly in areas like risk assessment, customer due diligence, internal controls, and transaction reporting. With this enhanced knowledge, I am now better equipped to integrate practical AML applications into our curriculum, ensuring our students are fully prepared to address illicit financial activities in their legal careers."
The expertise gained from this training is set to make a significant impact at ILPD. Both Mr. Ngabo and Ms. Mutoniwase are now positioned to lead the development and implementation of specialized short courses at ILPD, focusing on critical areas such as anti-money laundering and conflict resolution. This initiative aligns with ILPD's mission to provide innovative legal education and training that address contemporary global challenges.
