ILPD Donates Teaching Materials to Mushirarungu Primary School
On December 18, 2025, the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) donated school materials valued at approximately five million Rwandan Francs to École Primaire Mushirarungu in Rwabicuma Sector, Nyanza District. The donation is expected to significantly improve the quality of education by providing pupils and teachers with essential learning resources.
The donated package included textbooks for core subjects, teacher guides, science kits, sports equipment, charts, and paper supplies. Each Primary Six pupil received five textbooks, ensuring individual access to learning materials, while Primary Five pupils received Kinyarwanda textbooks.
The school’s Headmaster, Adrien Rutagarama, welcomed the support and highlighted its impact on teaching and learning, stating:
“This will help us improve performance, reduce the time teachers spend writing on the board, and allow students to better understand lessons since they will have their own textbooks.”
The District Education Officer, Eduard Mushimiyimana, emphasized the broader importance of the initiative, noting:
“It is a very important step in education. When every student has their own textbook, they understand lessons better and retain them more easily.”
Speaking on behalf of ILPD, the Vice Rector in Charge of Academic Affairs, Dr. Yves Sezirahiga, explained the motivation behind the donation:
“We want to contribute to education where we are based as ILPD. Starting with primary schools helps address challenges where teachers spend more time writing than explaining. These books will help solve that problem.”
“This is the first phase. Donations will be expanded to ensure that every pupil in the school receives the necessary learning materials,” he added.
The initiative was organized in collaboration with RPF Inkotanyi members working at the school and ILPD law students, reflecting ILPD’s commitment to promoting education not only within its institution but also in surrounding communities.
Founded in 1945 by the Catholic Church, École Primaire Mushirarungu currently has 14 classrooms, 12 for primary education and 2 for nursery, and continues to play a vital role in educating children in Rwabicuma Sector.
