ILPD Conducts the Training on Economic and Financial Crimes

On this Friday 2nd December 2016, the Acting Rector of the Institute of Legal Practice and Development Closes the Training on Economic and Financial Crimes.

The five days training was attended by 15 Judicial Police officers (investigators), 12 Prosecutors and 12 Judges, 3 Ombudsman Office staff, 3 National Human Rights Commission staff and 5 staff from the Ministry of Justice, which makes 50 participants.

While closing the training, the Ag. Rector appreciated the courage and determination of participants and recommended them to use the skills acquired from the training to improve their daily activities.

The role of this training was to help participants to Understand different financial and economic crimes and their constitutional elements, Identify various investigative techniques that may be used to investigate economic and financial crimes; Identify evidentiary documents that may be used to prove the culpability of those crimes, understand the role of new technologies in commission of economic and financial crimes, Identify various ways that an accounting system may be used to conceal the true nature of fraudulent transactions; and Demonstrate how indirect methods may be used to identify illegal income; and demonstrate how effectively present investigative findings.
