Chief Justice of Rwanda requested participants of the executive mode to enhance the efficiency and integrity of the judicial system
Friday 7th July 2023, Hon. Dr. Faustin Ntezilyayo, Chief Justice of Rwanda delivered a lecture on the management and administration of courts, Rwandan best practices, achievements and challenges to ILPD 49 trainees enrolled in the Diploma in Legal Practice/executive mode at Kigali Campus.
The presentation covered key elements in management and administration of courts in general as vital institutions in upholding the rule of law and on Rwandan Judiciary Best Practices, Achievements, Challenges and Measures to address identified challenges.
Honorable Chief Justice reminded them that the management and administration of courts are crucial for improving the efficiency, accessibility, and fairness of judicial systems, because they help to develop competent professionals who can address the administrative challenges faced by courts and contribute to the effective functioning of the justice system.
Honorable Ntezilyayo further urged the trainees that judicial officers must be equipped with the requisite expertise and tools enabling them to fulfill their core mission that is the fair and efficient administration of justice so as to uphold the rule of law. Judicial integrity and capacity must be enhanced. This will safeguard the indispensable continued trust and confidence in the judicial system.
Gideon Rukundo, a trainee in executive mode said that it was a blessing that they had the opportunity to talk with such a great leader, Chief Justice; he also learnt a lesson to play a role in the protection of human right and to contribute to people’s justice.
He said: “it is a blessing to have the opportunity to talk with such a person of high profile like the Chief Justice. The lesson that I and my colleagues learnt is that we should all play a role in whatever we do to help people enjoy their rights and get justice in their daily work where we work and wherever we live.”
