Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Rwanda Visits ILPD, Promises Cooperation with Her Country

The Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Rwanda, Prof. Charity Manyeruke, paid an official visit to the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Rwanda to learn more about the Institute’s operations and the services it offers. She expressed her appreciation for ILPD’s contribution to strengthening the justice sector and assured the Institute of Zimbabwe’s commitment to future cooperation.

The visit took place on April 4, 2025, at ILPD’s headquarters in the Nyanza District. The primary purpose of the visit was to understand ILPD’s responsibilities and its role in the development of the justice sector in Rwanda and other African countries.

Ambassador Prof. Manyeruke expressed her delight at how the institution helps enhance the knowledge of professionals in the justice sector across various institutions and related fields, calling it a knowledge hub for all who pass through it.

She said, "I have been told that this institution is always ready to sharpen the skills of those working in the justice sector, whether there are changes in the law or new laws to be implemented in the country. They come here for training and capacity building. This is truly impressive!"

She further expressed her satisfaction with how ILPD trains lawyers, judges, and prosecutors.

Additionally, she noted that she was proud to witness ILPD’s contribution to legal education for students from over 16 African countries.

Although there is currently no student from Zimbabwe studying at ILPD, she expressed her readiness to promote the institution’s benefits and encourage justice professionals in Zimbabwe to come and share their knowledge and experiences with those in Rwanda, particularly at ILPD.

Viateur Bangayandusha, the Academic Dean at ILPD, stated that Ambassador Prof. Charity Manyeruke’s visit reinforces the strong desire to promote cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the area of legal education and the development of the justice sector.

He continued, "This gesture underscores the importance of international cooperation in reinforcing legal institutions and promoting shared values such as justice, equity, and the rule of law, aligning with the flourishing cooperation between the two nations in fields like education. The visit enriches students' academic experiences by offering insights into international legal systems, inspires professional development through exposure to high-level diplomatic interactions, and creates networking opportunities."

He added that visits from senior foreign diplomats also boost students’ confidence, helping them realize that they too can expand their scope in their work. It also helps build connections abroad, contributing to broader knowledge.

ILPD frequently hosts important figures from various fields of law from Rwanda, Africa, Europe, America, and beyond. Many of these visitors share their experiences in law and best practices in the justice sector with ILPD students.
