Background

The Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) serves as a national and international centre of reference for :

1) practical legal training, and

2) research and development of law,

in three languages (English, French & Kinyarwanda). The three legal traditions (common law, civil law & African law) meet at the Institute.

The ILPD works community oriented, for instance through the ‘Maison d’Access à la Justice’, whose offices are located at the ILPD.
