Content:

The purpose of this Module is to enable the trainee to develop his abilities in communicating and convincing, in different languages. The trainee will be required to be part of or lead a team of litigation attorneys or prosecutors in national and international trials. This module consists of various courses on pleading (general principles and special procedures).

Knowledge and Understanding
- Describe different communication and persuasion strategies to be used in pleading.
Cognitive/Intellectual skills/Application of Knowledge
- Prepare a plea, including gathering of facts, as required by law, good practice and circumstances in a structured way;
- Analyze thoroughly cases addressed to him or her by presenting clear conclusions (written or oral);
- Effectively link law to facts of a case, persuading the judge;
- Present effectively the plea before lower and higher courts.
Communication/ICT/Numeracy/Analytic Techniques/Practical Skills
- Gather all material useful for the plea through case law, internet, books, journals and other resources, in order to build up the argumentation.
General transferable skills
- Act independently with clarity, precision of thoughts;
- Advise clients fully of the outcome in a way the client can understand.
