ILPD Information 

The Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) serves as a national and  regional centre of reference for:

1) practical legal training, and

2) research and development of the law,in three languages (English, French & Kinyarwanda). The three legal traditions (common law, civil law & African law) meet at the Institute.

The ILPD is community oriented, for instance through the ‘Maison d’Access à la Justice’, whose offices are located at the ILPD.

INFORMATION

ILPD Library serves the learning, teaching and research needs of students and staff at ILPD.

But we offer services to local community and anyone who want to use our resources for different reasons.

The ILPD library houses a rich and diverse array of research materials specifically in the area of law. Our Library provides a variety of scientific information by which users can meet their needs: the Library’s printed collections contain about 4500 volumes.

However, The Library is subscribed to selective general newspapers of both a local and national nature.

Users can also find CDs on labor law, child law etc.

The ILPD Library offers an adequate lending service to its users and has a reading room with the capacity of 50 seating places.

The ILPD library is committed to offering a good service taking into consideration the users’ wishes and the realities of an ever-changing world. The library is looking for being able to successfully carry out its mission of becoming a house of learning.

OPENING HOURS

Monday-Thursday: 7:00hrs - 12:00hrs & 13:00 hrs-21:00hrs

Friday: 7:00hrs - 12:00hrs

Current awareness in the Library of ILPD.

Recently, ILPD will be providing to its clients 3 majors programmes, i.e., Diploma in Legal Practice (DLP), Diploma in Legal Drafting, and Continuing Legal Education (CLE).

In terms of professionally running all the 3 programmes, the library of ILPD as a crucial academic supporting unity recently updated its collection by including a good number of books on Legal research, legal writing, legistlation, legal English among others (List of the books with a link).

 

In the scope of library digitalization, the department shortly will be proverding remotely services to its clients through the two electronic systems:

  1. Electronic Learning Management System

  1. KOHA which is a Library  Management Integrated System
